DCM Report:
I will be attending the business meeting in Marshalltown on March 21st. Mainly to see what all has been happening in the Area since January. I have been suffering from bad headaches due to some dental problems, and haven’t been able to attend very many meeting. I will be having dental surgery on April 1st. I will not be able to attend a District meeting if it is held that following weekend. Hopefully, somebody will be able to chair this meeting for me. I have however been a bit busy with Bridging the gap request and a call for help from Country Living facility in Oskaloosa. I will go into that a little more in detail. Also I have two Bridging the Gap request that I would like to discuss in our “Around the District” topics. Back to the Country Living item. I visited with Miles P at this facility for a little over an hour on this past Thursday. He is trying very hard to get regular A.A. meeting established at the facility. He has received a beginners starter pack from GSO. Which doesn’t include a whole lot of stuff, but enough to get a A.A. meeting going. He would like our help as a district with pamphlets, chips, books and/or whatever else we can provide. I know right now he would like to have a couple of items: the Preamble to read as well as How It works (which they read directly from the Big Book he has) and the 12 Traditions. I know they have 1 hard cover Big Book (Miles) and 2 soft cover Big Books. There is also a Daily Reflections and a 12 x 12. They hold meetings at 3:00 pm on Thursdays. I have arranged to be able to attend the meeting next Thursday. At that meeting, I hope to get a feel of who may want to come to meetings in town. I also spoke with the administrator of the facility. He has no problem with us coming to the meetings. Or if possible, bring people from there to our town meetings. We would be responsible for providing transportation. I’m not sure where we want to go with this. I know that this is a chance to work with some people who need the hand of A.A. More to come in the future, Yours in Service, T.J

Osky – Keep Sobriety Simple Sunday – Danny G. GSR:
Our attendance is still hanging in there at 10 – 20 members. We have also had money come up missing. We are going to talk about it at Intergroup to change things. In service, Danny G.
Ottumwa Start your Day over Noon Group – Dennis Alt GSR:
Attendance doing fairly well, Monday and Wednesdays from 15 to 18 people, Friday usually 25 or so. membership varies, have a couple of newcomers. Donations are steady now. Not just having people come in to get papers signed. 1st Wednesday of each month, we have a group conscience to discuss one of our traditions. Meeting getting stronger.
Pella Group – Amanda G. GSR:
Hello everyone!! I am so excited to be here today. My apologies for missing last month. Family came up for the day for my daughter’s last basketball game of the season. They won and it was a great day! Our Thursday night meeting has undergone some location changes over the last month. We have moved down to the second floor, which was hard as we had been in 308 for so many years. But through some crazy circumstances, we have been given our old room back! We are temporarily housed in the room next door until we can get tables and chairs. Then we will be back to business as usual! This will be great since we have been overflowing with attendance. We need more space. We recently sent $100.00 to GSO and our finances look good. Saturday 12:00 pm and Thursday &:30 pm are well attended, and we are tossing around the idea of adding a meeting to Monday night. We’ll see. All in all things are good in Pella! And as always I’m grateful to be of service Thanks, Amanda G.
Fairfield Serenity Group – Jocelen G. GSR:
The Fairfield AA information phone line is up and running. Call 641-233-5139 and check it out! Having a monthly rotating chairperson for our closed Sunday meeting is working out well so far. The group is excited to host a District 12 meeting followed by an event/workshop in May. I attended the West Central Regional AA Conference in Dubuque last Saturday. I went to the GSR breakout session. A popular topic was group inventories.  I will be attending the Service Day in Marshalltown next weekend. In love and service, Jocelen G.

I have not received any more responses from the mailings. I am waiting for the ordered literature to arrive so I can send it on. I still have $36.36 left in my budget and this should easily cover mailing out the rest of the requested pamphlets. I did attend the PI/CPC breakout sessions at the West Central Regional AA Conference in Dubuque. Jocelen G.

Around the District:
Lamar came to district as a visitor. She is very interested in Bridging the Gap. What is the feelings about the possibility of the Grapevine no longer being published? Take back to your groups and bring feedback to next District. Jocelen provided some information about the financial status, also the Spanish version is not the same as the English version, and there is also some talk of combining both the English version with the Spanish version as one publication.  Motion to close by Danny, 2nd by Terry, passed by all. Next District meeting is in Pella on April 10th at 10:00 am
Carrying the Message:
Please continue to support your local meetings. And if possible attend a meeting in another town.
